Frequently Asked Questions

What types of organizations do you work with?
We primarily support grassroots NGOs, community-based organizations, nonprofits, universities, volunteer programs, faith-based groups, and purpose-driven initiatives working in Peru. We welcome both new and established organizations.
What services do you provide?
We help organizations plan and operate programs in Peru through:
-
vetted local partner connections
-
logistics and coordination guidance
-
cultural orientation and best practices
-
program and volunteer structure support
-
ongoing consulting through retainer plans
We do not replace your mission — we support and strengthen it with local expertise.
Why is there a 6-month minimum commitment for the Summit Support Retainer?
Most program planning cycles in Peru involve multiple phases: relationship building, budgeting, logistics, implementation, and adjustment. A 6-month minimum ensures continuity and realistic timelines, and allows both your team and Peruvian partners to work consistently and effectively.
Do we have to pay for all 6 months up front?
No. Retainer plans are billed monthly in advance unless your organization prefers to pay for the full term at once (often helpful for grants or university budgeting).
Can we try a shorter-term retainer instead?
Yes. A 3-month pilot retainer may be available for exploratory trips or scoping visits. These are approved on a case-by-case basis.
What happens if our needs change during the retainer period?
Your plan is flexible. You may upgrade from Light to Standard Support at any time. Downgrades can take effect when the current 6-month minimum term is complete.
What counts as “hours of support”?
Support hours typically include:
-
email and WhatsApp guidance
-
partner communication and scheduling
-
research and provider vetting
-
meeting attendance or facilitation
-
logistics and program planning support
-
troubleshooting during program implementation
Time is tracked reasonably and transparently—brief routine messages are not micromanaged.
Do unused hours roll over?
No. To keep pricing simple and fair, unused hours do not roll over each month.
What happens if we need more hours than our retainer includes?
You can add additional consulting time at $60/hour. We will always notify you before exceeding your included monthly hours.
Do you offer sliding-scale pricing?
Yes. Sliding-scale pricing may be available for small, community-based, or Peruvian-led organizations. Our goal is to make support accessible while valuing professional work.
Is Peru a safe place for our volunteers or team members?
Peru is generally safe for visitors when programs are well-prepared. We provide guidance on:
-
safe areas and transport
-
emergency planning
-
travel considerations for different regions
-
realistic, culturally respectful safety practices
We focus on awareness and preparation, not fear-based messaging.
Do you assist with travel logistics within Peru?
Yes. We advise on domestic transport options, reputable providers, airport transfers, and general logistics. We are not a travel agency but we help you make informed decisions and connect you with trusted operators.
Do you help with visas or immigration paperwork?
We do not provide legal immigration services. However, we offer general guidance and connect you with reputable lawyers or immigration professionals in Peru when specialized assistance is needed.
Do you provide cultural orientation for groups?
Yes. Cultural preparation is a core part of our work. We offer guidance on:
-
Peruvian cultural norms
-
Indigenous community considerations
-
ethical engagement practices
-
communication styles and expectations
Our goal is to help your team enter communities with humility and respect.
Do you work with Indigenous or rural communities?
Yes, with intention and respect. We prioritize community-led partnerships that are ethical and mutually beneficial and avoid extractive or harmful models of engagement.
Can you help us develop a volunteer program in Peru?
Yes. We support:
-
program and schedule design
-
partner matching
-
ethical volunteering guidelines
-
logistics and coordination planning
We emphasize responsible volunteering that supports, rather than replaces, local capacity.
Do you place individual volunteers?
Our primary focus is organizational and program support, not individual placements. However, we can connect organizations with partners who coordinate individual volunteer opportunities.
What types of volunteer projects are appropriate in Peru?
Appropriate projects generally include:
-
community-driven initiatives
-
environmental conservation
-
education support roles
-
healthcare outreach under licensed professionals
-
cultural exchange and language learning
We discourage activities that replace local jobs or create dependency and help you evaluate impact before implementation.
Can you help with risk management for groups?
Yes. We assist with:
-
safety planning
-
emergency communication systems
-
considerations for medical preparation
-
travel insurance considerations
-
partner vetting and environment assessment
Risk is addressed proactively, not reactively.
How do we get started?
You can begin with:
-
the Trailhead Package consultation, or
-
a retainer discovery call
From there, we clarify goals, recommend the right service level, and move forward with a simple service agreement.
